FxPro and the cTrader Copy service

The account is with FxPro, an international broker. This site is not the broker and takes no money from the reader. FxPro quotes its instruments as contracts for difference, so a copied trade is a leveraged contract on a price, not ownership of anything.

A copied position is a contract on a price, not ownership

When you copy a trade on FxPro, what you hold is a contract for difference on an instrument, not the instrument itself. You never own the underlying share, currency, or commodity. The contract's value moves with the price, and you can gain or lose the difference without owning anything.

That means a copied trade is a leveraged contract. You put down a fraction of the notional value, and the rest is effectively borrowed from the broker. Leverage multiplies a loss as it multiplies a gain, and a small move against you can take a large part of your balance.

Where to check which company holds the account

cTrader's broker list prints regulators for each broker as a short text. For FxPro it printed "FCA UK; SCB - SIA Bahamas" on 6 November 2026. That is the list's wording, not this site's finding.

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority is the South African authority, and its public register is the place to search for the exact legal name of the company that will hold the account. If the company named in the client agreement is not there, the register does not show it as authorised in South Africa.

What to read in the terms before an account is opened from South Africa

Before opening an account, read the client agreement and the terms for cTrader Copy. In particular, check whether copy trading is available to residents of this country. cTrader's own broker list marks FxPro as 'Copy available', but adds that availability depends on local regulations and on the broker and may be restricted in some regions.

Also check the practice account. A practice account exists and costs nothing, but whether it can follow a strategy is something to ask FxPro. Opening a live account requires identification and takes a day or two. This site takes no money from you, and no payment is taken.

On 6 November 2026 cTrader's own broker list printed these regulators for FxPro: FCA UK; SCB - SIA Bahamas. Neither is a South African authority. This site has not found, on a public page it could read, a statement that an account opened by a South African resident is held under a South African licence, and it does not state one. Look up the exact company named in the client agreement on the Financial Sector Conduct Authority's public register before sending money. Money sent abroad is subject to South African exchange-control rules. Nothing on this site is investment advice, and whether FxPro's copy service is open to a resident of South Africa is something to ask FxPro.
